Deanna Duggar, sister of Jim Bob Duggar, says she believes the entire Duggar family should face further investigation as new legal controversies continue to unfold.
Speaking on The Sarah Fraser Show podcast, Deanna claimed that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar should be investigated “because of everything that has happened,” adding that “everybody should be checked out in that family.” She suggested that years of public scandals point to deeper issues that deserve closer scrutiny.
Deanna did make one exception, saying she believes Jill Duggar has taken meaningful steps to heal through therapy and by distancing herself from the family.
Amy Duggar King echoed those concerns during the interview, arguing that unresolved trauma and the family’s longtime involvement with the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) may have contributed to a culture where abuse and silence persisted. Amy said many family members would benefit from therapy and that a broader investigation “might be good.”
The renewed criticism comes as the Duggar family faces another major legal crisis. Joseph Duggar was arrested earlier this year and has pleaded not guilty to charges alleging he molested a 9-year-old girl during a 2020 family vacation. His wife, Kendra Duggar, was also arrested on separate child endangerment charges before being released on bond.
The latest allegations have revived public attention on the family’s troubled history, which first exploded into national headlines in 2015 after Josh Duggar admitted to molesting several underage girls. Josh was later convicted on federal child sexual abuse material charges in 2021 and is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence.
Despite the scandals that ultimately ended the family’s television career, Amy said she does not blame TLC for giving the Duggars a platform. Instead, she believes the exposure helped bring long-hidden issues into the open, allowing victims to begin the healing process.
