Josh Duggar has been transferred once again within the federal prison system, this time to a correctional facility in Ohio, placing him significantly farther from his wife and seven children in Arkansas.
The move marks the latest in a series of prison transfers since the former 19 Kids and Counting star began serving his federal sentence.
According to federal inmate records, Duggar was recently relocated to the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Elkton in Lisbon, Ohio.
Before arriving at Elkton, he spent time at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City, a temporary facility that processes inmates moving between federal institutions.
That transfer followed an earlier relocation from the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, where Duggar had been moved after serving approximately four years at FCI Seagoville, another federal prison in Texas.
Officials have not publicly explained the reasons behind the series of transfers.
The latest move places Duggar more than 850 miles from his family’s home in northwest Arkansas, creating new obstacles for in-person visits.
According to his attorney, Beau Brindley, the lengthy distance means Anna Duggar and the couple’s seven children would face a drive of more than 13 hours each way to visit him at the Ohio facility.
Brindley acknowledged that the travel will make regular contact visits considerably more difficult but said the family intends to continue visiting whenever possible.
He also noted that phone calls will remain an important way for Duggar to stay connected with his wife and children while he serves his sentence.
Duggar’s attorney has argued that the multiple prison transfers may have been punitive rather than routine administrative decisions.
Brindley previously claimed prison officials retaliated against his client after Duggar alleged in court that correctional staff at FCI Seagoville improperly opened confidential legal mail outside his presence.
According to the attorney, the repeated relocations followed those complaints.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not publicly confirmed that claim or provided any explanation linking the transfers to Duggar’s allegations.
Josh Duggar rose to national fame through TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, which documented the lives of the large Duggar family and their conservative Christian lifestyle.
His television career ended after a series of scandals, culminating in a federal criminal case.
In December 2021, a federal jury convicted Duggar of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material after prosecutors presented evidence that illegal files had been downloaded and viewed on a computer at his former car dealership.
He was sentenced in 2022 to more than 12 years in federal prison.
Duggar remains incarcerated while serving his federal sentence and is expected to remain in custody until 2033, according to Bureau of Prisons records.
His transfer to FCI Elkton represents the latest chapter in his incarceration, though neither prison officials nor the Bureau of Prisons have indicated whether the Ohio facility will be his permanent placement for the remainder of his sentence.
