Josh Duggar has been transferred once again, this time to the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Elkton in Lisbon, Ohio, marking his third prison move in roughly a year as he continues serving his 12-year sentence for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material.

Federal Bureau of Prisons records show the former 19 Kids and Counting star arrived at the low-security Ohio facility on July 8 after a brief stay at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City. Before that, he had spent several years at FCI Seagoville in Texas before being unexpectedly moved to the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth in May. Officials have never publicly explained the reason for those transfers.
The latest relocation places Josh more than 850 miles from his family’s home in Arkansas, making in-person visits from his wife Anna Duggar and their seven children significantly more difficult. His attorney previously argued that the repeated transfers have disrupted family contact and suggested they were retaliatory, though the Bureau of Prisons has declined to discuss the reasons behind inmate transfers.
The move comes just weeks after a federal judge rejected Josh’s latest attempt to overturn his 2021 conviction. He had argued that constitutional violations and errors involving forensic evidence undermined his trial, but the court ruled his appeal was filed after the legal deadline and dismissed the request.
Josh, who was arrested by federal agents in 2021 and sentenced in 2022 to more than 12 years behind bars, remains scheduled for release in February 2033. His latest prison transfer also comes as the Duggar family faces renewed public scrutiny following the separate criminal case involving his younger brother, Joseph Duggar, who has pleaded not guilty to child sex abuse charges in Florida and is awaiting trial.
