Amy Duggar is publicly standing with the teenage girl accusing her cousin Joseph Duggar of sexually assaulting her during a 2020 family vacation, revealing she recently spoke with the alleged victim in an emotional conversation that left a lasting impact.
Speaking on The Sarah Fraser Show, Amy said she wanted to give the girl hope, encouraging her not to let the allegations define the rest of her life. She also told the teen she would always have a safe place to turn if she ever needed someone to talk to, while urging her to continue seeking counseling and support.
Amy praised the girl’s courage for coming forward despite knowing many people might not believe her. She described the alleged victim as incredibly brave for sharing her story and said she hopes Joseph eventually accepts responsibility instead of continuing to fight the accusations.
The reality star admitted Joseph’s arrest devastated her because he had once been her favorite cousin, describing him as someone she previously viewed as kind and gentle. She said the allegations have shaken her trust even more deeply after everything the Duggar family endured following Josh Duggar’s conviction.
Amy also revealed that the moment she learned Joseph had been arrested, she immediately called cousin Jill Duggar Dillard. The two reportedly cried together over the phone as they struggled to process another devastating scandal involving the Duggar family.
Joseph has pleaded not guilty to two Florida charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving a child under 12. According to investigators, the allegations stem from incidents that allegedly occurred during a family vacation in Panama City Beach in 2020, when the girl was 9 years old. Court records state Joseph could face a possible life sentence if convicted.
As the criminal case moves toward trial, Joseph and wife Kendra Duggar are also attempting to sell one of their Arkansas properties after previously discussing financial concerns in recorded jail calls. Amy described the family’s latest legal crisis as “a nightmare that does not end,” saying the ongoing scandals continue to leave deep emotional scars across the entire Duggar family.
