Amy Duggar and Jill Duggar Grow Closer as Family Faces Fallout From Joseph Duggar’s Arrest

Amy Duggar King says one unexpected outcome of the legal crisis surrounding Joseph Duggar has been the strengthening of her relationship with cousin Jill Duggar Dillard. According to Amy, the two have developed a much deeper bond as they continue supporting one another through the emotional fallout of Joseph’s criminal case.

Speaking during a recent YouTube interview, Amy revealed that she and Jill have stayed in frequent contact since Joseph was arrested in March on allegations involving the sexual abuse of a minor in Florida. Their conversations, she said, have largely centered on checking in with each other and offering emotional support during an incredibly difficult period for the Duggar family.

Amy explained that while she and Jill had always enjoyed a friendly relationship growing up, their connection had never gone beyond casual family interactions. That has changed dramatically in recent months, as both women have found themselves discussing more personal subjects, including trust, emotional struggles, and the impact the allegations have had on their lives.

She described their relationship as evolving from a typical cousin dynamic into one built on honesty and mutual confidence. Amy said they have learned to rely on one another, knowing their conversations remain private, which has helped create a level of trust they had not shared before.

Joseph Duggar’s arrest has shaken the entire Duggar family. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of lewd and lascivious conduct involving a minor in Florida. Prosecutors allege the incidents occurred during a family vacation in 2020, when the alleged victim was nine years old. The case remains pending.

In addition to the Florida prosecution, Joseph and his wife, Kendra Duggar, are also facing separate criminal charges in Arkansas involving child endangerment and false imprisonment. Both have entered not guilty pleas in that case as well, and authorities have said the Arkansas allegations are unrelated to the Florida investigation.

Amy acknowledged that the latest scandal has been especially painful given the Duggar family’s history. Joseph’s arrest came less than five years after his older brother, Josh Duggar, was convicted in federal court on charges involving child sexual abuse material. Josh is currently serving a prison sentence that is expected to run until 2033.

As the legal proceedings continue, Amy says she and Jill remain focused on supporting one another, finding comfort in a relationship that has become much stronger during one of the family’s most difficult chapters.
