Donald Trump has made an unexpected public move involving Taylor Swift — and this time, it was not an insult.

On July 15, President Trump reportedly reshared a post about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s new dog on Truth Social and added a short reaction: “So cool!” The comment quickly drew attention because of Trump’s long and often tense public history with the Grammy-winning superstar.
The post he shared referred to Swift and Kelce’s newly revealed white Samoyed, which had recently been seen at the newly renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport in Palm Beach, Florida. According to Mediaite, Trump appeared amused that the couple’s dog had made its public debut at an airport now carrying his name.
The moment was strange enough to go viral.
For months, fans had been speculating that Swift and Kelce had quietly added a dog to their household. TMZ previously reported that the fluffy white dog was spotted getting off Swift’s private jet after it landed in Palm Beach, with Kelce seen nearby on the tarmac. The sighting appeared to confirm online theories that the couple had a new “fur baby.”
But the political twist came from where the dog appeared.
Palm Beach International Airport was officially renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport on July 9, 2026, after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation allowing the change. AP reported that the airport’s name change became official in early July, with the IATA code scheduled to change from PBI to DJT on August 18.
That detail gave Trump an easy opening to comment.
Still, many people were surprised by the friendly tone. Trump’s relationship with Swift has been publicly rocky for years, especially after she became more politically outspoken. In September 2024, after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the presidential election, Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” in all caps on Truth Social. CBS News and The Independent both reported on the post at the time.
Before that, Trump had also made skeptical comments about Swift and Kelce’s relationship. When the romance first became a major public story, he said he wished them the best but added that he was unsure whether the relationship would last.
That history made his latest “So cool!” reaction feel like a sudden shift — or at least a rare moment of lightness.
The White House has also leaned into Swift-related humor more than once. Before Swift and Kelce’s wedding, the official White House X account reportedly shared an image styled like the poster for Swift’s Eras Tour, placing Trump in the center alongside former presidents and major moments in American history. The caption echoed a lyric associated with the Eras Tour campaign, turning the reference into a political pop-culture joke.

The airport itself has also become controversial. While Trump and his supporters celebrated the renaming, AP reported that public reaction has been mixed. The Daily Beast later reported that the renamed airport received a wave of complaints through its online contact form, with some travelers objecting strongly to the change.
Even so, the dog story gave the airport a completely different kind of publicity.
Instead of debate over politics, cost or public opinion, the conversation briefly turned to Swift, Kelce and their new pet stepping into one of the most unusual intersections of celebrity, sports and politics.
For Swifties, the dog’s appearance was another clue in the couple’s newlywed life. For Trump watchers, the “So cool!” post was notable because it showed the president reacting warmly to a story connected to a celebrity he had once publicly attacked.
Whether the comment signals any real change in Trump’s view of Swift is impossible to know. It may have been less about the singer herself and more about the fact that the dog appeared at an airport newly named after him.
But in the world of Taylor Swift, even the smallest detail becomes a headline.

A wedding becomes a national obsession. A dog becomes a mystery. An airport becomes a political backdrop. And one two-word post from Donald Trump is enough to restart a conversation about one of the strangest celebrity-political feuds of recent years.
For now, the message was simple.
Trump may have once said he hated Taylor Swift.
But apparently, he likes her dog.
