In a heartbreaking turn of events, former NFL star Aldon Smith was reportedly in good spirits and health just days before his untimely death. Tee Maultsby, the barber who recently styled Smith’s hair, shared insights about their last encounter, revealing that Aldon appeared ready to embrace a positive change in his life.
Maultsby, who interviewed Smith on his podcast “Laced Up,” noted that they had joked about Aldon’s impressive physique, suggesting he still had the prowess to excel on the football field. According to Maultsby, Aldon never indicated any health concerns during their conversations, either on or off the air.
In the weeks leading up to his passing, Smith was reportedly focused on turning his life around and aimed to leverage his platform to advocate for mental health awareness. Tragically, his life was cut short when he was discovered unresponsive in a truck last Saturday.

On the day of his death, Smith had been actively involved in charitable work, delivering pizzas to a local homeless outreach alongside his friend Amir Shirazi. It was Shirazi who later found him slumped over in the driver’s seat, prompting a wave of shock and grief among those who knew him.

While the official cause of death has yet to be determined, Aldon’s family has expressed a desire to have his brain examined for CTE, a condition linked to head trauma in athletes. As the community mourns the loss of a talented player and a hopeful advocate, many are left wondering what could have been and how his legacy might inspire future change.
