DJ Whoo Kid is recalling the moment a leaked collaboration between The Notorious B.I.G. and 50 Cent allegedly led to a tense confrontation with Sean Combs, also known as Diddy.
During a recent interview, Whoo Kid revealed that he intentionally planned an “escape route” before airing the unreleased song “Realest N*****” on New York radio station Hot 97 years ago.
The DJ explained that he knew leaking material connected to Bad Boy Records could spark immediate backlash, especially because Diddy reportedly lived close to the station at the time.
According to Whoo Kid, he strategically played the song just minutes before his radio show ended so he could quickly leave the building before anyone confronted him.
He claimed staff members at the station helped coordinate his exit, including using a lesser-known elevator often used by artists trying to avoid conflicts.
However, the real confrontation allegedly happened later during rehearsals connected to a planned Saturday Night Live appearance involving 50 Cent.
Whoo Kid said Diddy approached him backstage, placed him in what he described as a “soft headlock” and demanded to know where the leaked record came from.
The DJ recalled receiving warnings from industry executive Chris Lighty telling him to leave the area immediately.
Despite the tension, Whoo Kid said 50 Cent reportedly found humor in the situation and was not upset that the song had leaked publicly.
The collaboration eventually gained major popularity through mixtapes before later becoming an official release on the Bad Boys II soundtrack in 2003.
Whoo Kid also claimed the producers who originally provided him with the unreleased track disappeared afterward, and he never heard from them again.
