Joy-Anna Duggar is speaking candidly about the emotional toll her family has faced in the aftermath of brother Joseph Duggar’s child molestation case.
Appearing on the May 27 episode of her sister Jinger Duggar’s podcast, Joy-Anna admitted the past two months have been some of the darkest and most painful of her life.
“It’s been super hard and super dark and really heavy,” Joy-Anna shared during the emotional conversation. “I think every day just feels so heavy.”
Joseph Duggar, 31, was arrested in March and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior connected to an alleged 2020 incident involving a 9-year-old girl. He later pleaded not guilty through his attorney and was released on a $600,000 bond while awaiting trial.
During the podcast, Jinger described the situation as “a hard season for a lot of us,” while Joy-Anna called it “the hardest time I’ve ever gone through.”
The former reality TV star also spoke about relying heavily on her faith to cope with the ongoing scandal.
“I think I’ve had to lean on the Lord more than I ever have,” she said. “There’s no black and white answer.”
Joy-Anna admitted she has also struggled with how much of her emotions and family situation to share publicly online.
“I feel like the more I talk about it publicly, the more it just gets rubbed in our faces,” she said. “I kind of want to just move on with life in some ways. And so that’s been a hard balance.”
Meanwhile, Joseph’s legal case continues moving forward in Florida. During a recent court hearing, his attorney requested modifications to the conditions of his release so he could have unsupervised contact with his four biological children. The request remains under review.
Joseph’s wife, Kendra Duggar, is also facing separate charges related to child welfare and false imprisonment, though family representatives insist she is not accused of involvement in the alleged abuse case.
The scandal has reignited public scrutiny surrounding the Duggar family and their history of controversies involving abuse allegations.
