Drake is once again dominating headlines after officially surpassing Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 by a solo male artist.
The historic milestone came after Drake’s latest track, “Janice S###,” debuted at No. 1 on the charts, giving the Toronto superstar his 14th Hot 100 chart-topper.
Never one to stay quiet about his victories, Drake celebrated the achievement with a cryptic social media post featuring the caption:
“Neck broke from carrying the chain
Back broke from carrying the game
Records broken carry on my name
Carry on carry on.”
The accomplishment has reignited debates online about whether Drake deserves to be considered the modern-day “King of Pop,” a title long associated with Michael Jackson.
In addition to breaking Jackson’s solo male record, Drake reportedly added nine new songs to the Billboard top 10 simultaneously, bringing his career total to an astonishing 90 top-10 hits.
Reports also claim Drake currently has 42 songs charting on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, while his projects ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR occupy the top three spots on the Billboard 200 chart.
Still, comparisons to Michael Jackson remain controversial among music fans and industry observers.
Critics argue that the streaming era gives modern artists a significant advantage over legends like Jackson, whose success came primarily through physical album and single sales. Others point to the influence of playlists, algorithms and digital streaming culture in today’s music industry.
Supporters of Jackson’s legacy insist that chart records alone cannot fully measure cultural impact, artistry or global influence. However, many also acknowledge Drake’s dominance in the streaming era as one of the most remarkable runs in modern music history.
While the debate over who deserves the “King of Pop” crown continues, one thing is clear — Drake’s chart dominance is rewriting the record books in real time.
