A former Las Vegas police officer has revealed new details about a chilling conversation he had with Tupac Shakur right after the rapper was gunned down, claiming the hip-hop icon made a vow of retaliation instead of naming his shooter.
Ex-Las Vegas Metro Police Officer Garry Dale took the stand during the first day of Duane “Keefe D” Davis’ trial, described as the alleged mastermind behind the 1996 murder. Dale told the court he was inside the ambulance with Tupac after the September 7 shooting and asked the rapper multiple times who pulled the trigger.
According to Dale’s testimony, Tupac refused to cooperate with the investigation. Instead of providing a name, the rapper reportedly said he and his crew would “take care of it,” hinting that he planned to handle the situation through street justice rather than the legal system.
Tupac never got the chance to follow through on that promise. He was rushed to the hospital, where he clung to life for several days before passing away on September 13, 1996.
Keefe D was arrested in 2023 and charged in connection with the killing. Court documents claim he helped plan the drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, though he is not accused of being the triggerman. He allegedly spoke openly about his role in interviews and to police, at times under immunity agreements.
If convicted, the 61-year-old faces a potential life sentence.
