Lauren Boebert’s Son Tyler Arrested in Colorado Child Exploitation Investigation

Tyler Boebert, the son of Rep. Lauren Boebert, is facing five felony charges following an investigation involving alleged child sexual abuse material and underage girls.

The arrest stems from a 43-second video allegedly recorded in February 2024, when Tyler was 18 and his then-girlfriend was 17. According to a criminal affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, authorities classified the recording as child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Tyler Boebert Faces Five Felony Charges

Tyler, 21, was arrested on Aug. 9 and booked into the Garfield County Jail in Colorado. Authorities charged him with several offenses, including child sexual exploitation to induce or entice, sexual exploitation of a child involving possession with intent, sexual exploitation of a child involving video, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

 

He was released later that day after posting a $10,000 surety bond.

According to the 49-page affidavit, investigators became aware of the alleged video after the teenage girl involved reported it to police. The recording was reportedly made on Feb. 1, 2024, just days before she turned 18.

The girl told authorities that her former boyfriend had obtained a copy of the recording. Although her face was not visible in the video, investigators were reportedly able to identify her through distinctive details, including her hair and an injury she had previously suffered in a car accident.

The affidavit states that the video itself was not posted publicly or shared on social media.

Investigation Expanded Beyond Tyler

The investigation reportedly uncovered allegations involving several other young men who were allegedly connected to sexually explicit videos involving underage girls.

According to the affidavit, some of the alleged material was posted online. In another case described by investigators, an individual allegedly threatened to release intimate photographs and videos of an underage couple unless they produced additional material.

 

The identities of those other individuals were redacted from the affidavit, leaving it unclear whether they were arrested as part of the same investigation.

Authorities also noted that the teenage girl connected to Tyler’s case initially did not want to pursue a formal complaint because she understood that doing so could potentially result in Tyler facing legal consequences.

Tyler’s Legal Troubles Extend Beyond the Latest Arrest

The latest charges are not Tyler’s only legal problems.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in September in two separate cases involving Weld County and Garfield County. One case stems from a 2025 child abuse charge, while the other originated from a 2024 incident involving allegations that included property theft and trespassing.

Before those sentencing proceedings, Tyler is expected to appear in court on Aug. 19 for a hearing connected to his latest arrest.

He has not yet entered a plea in the child-exploitation case.

Lauren Boebert Responds to Her Son’s Arrest

Lauren Boebert, a Republican congresswoman from Colorado, responded to news of her son’s arrest with a brief statement.

 

“I love my son,” she said, while adding that the family takes the allegations seriously and is praying for everyone affected by the situation.

Tyler is Boebert’s oldest child. His arrest comes as his mother campaigns for reelection in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.

For now, the allegations against Tyler remain unresolved in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
