The video shows officers moving through the Moscow, Idaho rental home before the gravity of the scene hits them. One officer can be heard reacting with a single, stunned exclamation as he walks into a second-floor bedroom where victims Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were found.
The footage, featured in the upcoming docuseries “The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare,” captures the raw emotion of first responders as they make their way to the third floor, where Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves were also discovered. According to the clip, officers can be heard gasping in disbelief before one eventually radios for backup, stating that there are four deceased individuals on the scene.
The trailer also gives a glimpse into police interviews with surviving roommates Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, who were on the first floor during the attack. In the footage, a panicked Funke tells investigators she heard a scream and saw someone. Mortensen reportedly came face-to-face with the suspect as he was leaving the residence.
Bryan Kohberger, a former criminology Ph. D. student, previously admitted to the killings and received four consecutive life sentences as part of a plea agreement.
But now, in a surprising development, he has reportedly filed a petition challenging his conviction, claiming he was misled into accepting the deal and maintaining his innocence.
