The 84-year-old woman was last seen leaving her home near Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday, reportedly vanishing after failing to attend church.
The call came shortly after Trump’s interview with “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Llamas, where he expressed his commitment to ensuring that local and federal law enforcement have all necessary resources at their disposal. Savannah, visibly shaken, thanked the president for his concern and emphasized the family’s need for prayers during this distressing time.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared, “I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY.” He reassured the Guthrie family that efforts are being intensified to locate Nancy safely, adding, “The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. Authorities from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are treating Nancy’s disappearance as a potential abduction, stating they believe she may have been taken in the night. Despite receiving hundreds of tips, investigators have yet to identify any suspects or persons of interest in the case.
The FBI has now joined the investigation, which includes around 100 detectives from the sheriff’s office. Trump has pledged to send additional federal agents to assist in the search.
