Josh Duggar, the former 19 Kids and Counting reality television personality, has been transferred to a federal correctional facility in Ohio as part of a recent Bureau of Prisons relocation.
According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records, Duggar arrived at FCI Elkton, a low-security federal prison in Lisbon, Ohio, on July 8. Officials have not disclosed the reason for the transfer, citing agency policy regarding inmate placement decisions.
Third Transfer in Recent Months
The move marks Duggar’s third transfer in just a few months.
He previously served his sentence at FCI Seagoville in Texas before being transferred to the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth earlier this year. He was later moved to the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City before ultimately arriving at FCI Elkton.
The Bureau of Prisons has declined to comment on the reasons behind the series of transfers.
Farther Away From His Family
The relocation places Duggar more than 850 miles from his family’s home in Arkansas, making in-person visits significantly more challenging.
His wife, Anna Duggar, and their seven children continue to live in Arkansas. Neither Duggar’s family nor his attorney has publicly commented on the latest transfer.
Transfer Comes After Recent Legal Setback
The transfer follows another unsuccessful legal effort to challenge Duggar’s conviction.
A federal judge recently denied his latest post-conviction filing after determining it was submitted outside the applicable deadline. Previous appeals have also been unsuccessful.
Continuing His Federal Sentence
Duggar was convicted in federal court in 2021 on charges involving child sexual abuse material and was sentenced in 2022 to more than 12 years in federal prison.
According to the Bureau of Prisons, his current projected release date is February 2033. After completing his prison sentence, he will also be subject to a period of supervised release.
Future Placement Remains Unclear
At this time, it is unknown whether FCI Elkton will be Duggar’s permanent facility or if additional transfers could occur in the future.
Federal prison officials have not announced any further plans regarding his placement, and the Bureau of Prisons continues to decline comment on the reasons for inmate transfers.
For now, Duggar will continue serving his federal sentence at the Ohio facility while remaining considerably farther from his family than during most of his incarceration.
