Josh Duggar’s time behind bars has been extended once again, with his federal prison release date pushed back for the third time as the former reality TV star continues trying to challenge his conviction.
The former 19 Kids and Counting star, 38, is now scheduled to be released on February 2, 2033, after previously having earlier release dates listed. Duggar is currently serving a 151-month sentence after being convicted of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material.
Duggar was arrested in April 2021 and later found guilty in December of that year. In May 2022, he was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison. Since then, he has repeatedly attempted to appeal his conviction, maintaining his innocence throughout the legal process.
His previous appeals were unsuccessful, including challenges that reached higher courts. Earlier in 2026, Duggar hired new legal representation as he continued another attempt to overturn his sentence.
One major issue in his latest appeal involved whether his paperwork was submitted on time. During a virtual court hearing, the judge reviewed arguments surrounding the deadline for filing his motion. The outcome became another obstacle in Duggar’s effort to challenge his conviction.
Despite his legal setbacks, Duggar has continued receiving support from his wife, Anna Duggar, and some members of his family. The couple shares seven children, and reports say Anna has remained involved in his legal battles while he serves his sentence.
The Duggar family has faced years of public controversy following Josh’s conviction, and the situation has continued to draw attention as other legal issues involving family members have emerged.
Earlier in 2026, Josh’s brother Joseph Duggar was arrested and faced allegations involving child-related offenses. Joseph pleaded not guilty and was released after posting a $600,000 bond while awaiting further court proceedings.
Josh’s legal team has continued to argue that he deserves another chance to challenge the outcome of his case, but so far his conviction and sentence remain in place.
For now, Duggar remains incarcerated with his projected release date set for 2033 as his latest legal efforts continue.
