Conor McGregor has finally spoken candidly about the personal struggles that have overshadowed his fighting career. As he prepares for his long-awaited UFC return after five years, the former two-division champion admitted that fame brought unexpected challenges and that many of his biggest setbacks came from his own decisions.
McGregor revealed that he has spent significant time focusing on self-improvement through treatment and deep personal reflection. According to him, the hardest battle isn’t inside the Octagon—it’s overcoming the habits and mindset that once controlled his life.
He explained that returning to the spotlight has sometimes tempted him to slip back into old behaviors, but he constantly reminds himself that he has changed. McGregor believes growth requires daily discipline, avoiding unhealthy environments, and staying committed to becoming a better person.
Looking back, he admitted that reaching the peak of his career at such a young age left him without clear direction. Becoming a two-division UFC champion and earning enormous success made him lose focus, leading to mistakes that damaged both his career and reputation.
Despite everything that has happened, McGregor insists his passion for mixed martial arts has never disappeared. He says fighting remains his greatest motivation and hopes his comeback will prove not only that he still belongs among the elite but also that he has matured both professionally and personally.
While acknowledging that nobody is perfect, McGregor says personal growth is an ongoing process. He compares life to walking a tightrope, where maintaining balance every single day is the only way to avoid falling back into old mistakes.
