A 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 video shared briefly on Mackenzie Shirilla’s private Instagram account has stirred intense emotions as it shows her mourning her late boyfriend, Dominic Russo, whom she was convicted of killing. The footage, which was deleted within minutes, has raised eyebrows and sparked outrage over her apparent lack of remorse.
At just 22 years old, Shirilla is currently serving two consecutive 15-years-to-life sentences for the tragic deaths of Russo, 20, and their friend, Davison Flanagan, 18. The fatal incident occurred on July 31, 2022, when Shirilla crashed her car into a brick wall at speeds exceeding 100 mph, resulting in the immediate deaths of both young men.
In the now-removed video, viewers see Shirilla, visibly emotional and wearing a neck brace, as she lays flowers at Russo’s grave. An AI-generated voiceover claims that the public’s perception of her as unfeeling is inaccurate, stating, “But they definitely lied about that.” The video also features a segment where Shirilla is seen pouring beer into a glass, captioned “sippin 4 you,” alongside a moment where she smells one of Russo’s shirts, expressing that it “smells just like him.”

The video was reportedly posted with the consent of Shirilla, as her Instagram account is believed to be managed by her parents. Sources indicate that while incarcerated at the Ohio Reformatory for Women, Shirilla has requested changes to her bio, including the hashtag “#freekenzie.”

Interestingly, a former partner of Shirilla revealed that her scrapbook contained only images of herself and a picture of a brick wall marked with the word “BOOM,” rather than any mementos of Russo or Flanagan. “I feel like that was cold,” she remarked, highlighting the disconnection between Shirilla’s public persona and her private actions.
While Shirilla’s parents maintain her innocence, she is not eligible for parole until 2037. The emotional fallout from this incident continues to ripple through the community, leaving many to wonder what lies ahead for Shirilla and how her story will unfold.
