D4vd is now facing the possibility of the death penalty after Los Angeles prosecutors officially charged him with special circumstances murder in connection to the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
The charges were announced during a press conference led by Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman alongside LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, who outlined what authorities described as a case built on forensic evidence, digital records, and witness testimony.
According to prosecutors, D4vd has been charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, automatically making him eligible for capital punishment if convicted. He is also facing additional charges involving alleged lewd acts with a child under 14 and mutilation of a human body.
Authorities allege the singer killed Celeste inside his Los Angeles residence on April 23, 2025. Prosecutors claim the motive was tied to fears that their alleged relationship would become public and potentially destroy his music career.
Investigators further allege that Celeste had knowledge of the relationship and may have become a potential witness in a criminal investigation, leading prosecutors to accuse D4vd of attempting to silence her.
The case became even more disturbing after authorities reportedly discovered Celesteโs remains months later inside bags stored in D4vdโs Tesla vehicle. Prosecutors say the body was in an advanced state of decomposition when found in September 2025, making it difficult for investigators to immediately determine the exact cause of death.
Despite the condition of the remains, the Medical Examiner ultimately ruled the death a homicide.
Police also claim they uncovered evidence suggesting D4vd and the victim were involved in a sexual relationship prior to her disappearance, a key detail prosecutors say supports their theory regarding motive and intent.
D4vd was arrested on April 16 during what officials described as a major coordinated law enforcement operation. Since then, his mugshot and details surrounding the case have spread rapidly online, turning the investigation into one of the most talked-about criminal cases involving a young music artist in recent years.
His legal team has strongly denied the allegations, insisting that D4vd โwas not the cause of her death.โ Attorneys are expected to challenge both the forensic evidence and the prosecutionโs timeline as the case moves forward.
With the death penalty now potentially on the table, legal experts expect the case to become a lengthy and closely watched courtroom battle. Prosecutors have not yet officially confirmed whether they will pursue execution, but the special circumstance charges allow them to seek it.
D4vd remains behind bars without bail as he awaits arraignment, where he is expected to formally enter a plea and hear the charges against him in court.
