A self-proclaimed crime junkie is facing serious legal trouble after prosecutors say she put the integrity of a high-profile murder trial at risk. Dawn Light, 56, walked out of a Massachusetts courthouse with a smile on Wednesday, just hours after pleading not guilty to charges of aggravated intimidation of a juror.
According to court documents, Light allegedly drove her blue Toyota into a restricted area near the Plymouth courthouse and began filming and photographing jurors as they left the building on Tuesday. The incident happened during the ongoing triple murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the former labor and delivery nurse accused of strangling her three young children in 2023.
Prosecutor Nicole Piacentini told the judge that Light’s actions threatened the “sanctity of the judicial system.” When officers approached, Light reportedly insisted she wasn’t filming jurors but was “waiting to see if Lindsay Clancy would come out of the building.” However, investigators claim they found a video of the jurors in her phone’s deleted folder.
Light’s defense attorney, Jennifer White, called the situation “a complete misunderstanding,” arguing her client was simply trying to get a picture of Clancy and had no intention of interacting with the jury. Light, a retired nurse, has reportedly attended other high-profile trials, including those of Alex Murdaugh and Karen Read.
Judge Shelby M. Smith did not set bail but ordered Light to stay away from the courthouse, witnesses, and jurors. She can only return for her own court hearings.
If convicted, Light faces up to 20 years behind bars.
Meanwhile, the jury in Clancy’s trial has been deliberating for five days. Clancy claims she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings. Her attorney told reporters that Light’s arrest “doesn’t affect us at all.”
