Ferrari star Charles Leclerc has broken his silence after that terrifying crash at Monza, telling fans he’s “okay” physically—but the emotional toll is hitting even harder. The Monegasque driver’s Italian Grand Prix ended in disaster on lap three, and now all eyes are on whether he’ll be fit for the Spanish Grand Prix in just seven days.
Leclerc started third on the grid, dreaming of another win in front of the roaring Tifosi. But after a tense battle with teammate Lewis Hamilton on lap one, he lost control coming out of Parabolica on lap two and slammed into the wall—a haunting replay of his 2020 crash at the same corner.
The impact was massive, and with the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid coming up fast, fans immediately worried if Leclerc would be ready to race. Now, he’s taken to Instagram to share a heartfelt update.
“Not how I wanted the weekend to go,” Leclerc wrote. “Thanks for all the messages. Physically, that was a big one, but I’m okay.
Emotionally, it hurts even more for something like this to happen here at home, in front of all of you, the tifosi.”
He added, “Thank you for the incredible welcome and support all weekend. Monza with you is always something so special.”
Meanwhile, paddock whispers suggested Ferrari had put reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi on standby for Spain. But sources say the Italian was already set to attend the Madrid race as part of his regular duties with the Scuderia—not as a reaction to Leclerc’s crash.
