Lindsay Clancy’s Parents and Sister Stand by Her as Her Murder Trial Unfolds

As Lindsay Clancy faces trial over the deaths of her three young children, members of her family have offered jurors a deeply personal look at the woman they knew before the tragedy.

 

Lindsay, a former labor and delivery nurse, was raised in Wallingford, Conn., by her parents, Michael and Paula Musgrove, alongside her sister, Allison Ozga. Both Paula and Allison testified for the defense during Lindsay’s 2026 murder trial, describing her personality, her struggles with mental health and the changes they noticed in the months before the killings.

Lindsay married Patrick Clancy in 2016 after the two met in 2013. They later became parents to three children — Cora, Dawson and Callan. After Callan was born in 2022, Lindsay began experiencing serious mental health difficulties. According to the account presented in the source, she sought treatment from multiple doctors and was prescribed more than a dozen medications by January 2023.

On Jan. 24, 2023, Patrick left their Massachusetts home to pick up takeout and medication. When he returned, he found Lindsay outside with severe injuries and discovered their three children in the basement. Lindsay survived after jumping from a second-story window but was left paralyzed. She was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the deaths. Her trial began July 20, 2026.

Lindsay grew up in a close-knit Connecticut family

Michael and Paula Musgrove raised Lindsay and Allison in Wallingford, where Lindsay attended Lyman Hall High School and graduated in 2007. She was a competitive cheerleader during high school and continued participating in the sport at Quinnipiac University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2012 before moving to Boston to pursue nursing.

Neighbors remembered the Musgroves as hardworking parents who took good care of their children. One described the neighborhood as an especially good place to raise kids, while another called Lindsay’s parents wonderful and kind people.

Lindsay’s only sibling is Allison Ozga, who has largely kept out of the public spotlight. Allison testified that she works as a social worker and does not live in Massachusetts. She said she has not lived in the same state as Lindsay for about a decade, although the sisters have remained close.

That relationship became especially important as Lindsay’s mental health deteriorated in late 2022.

 

Allison recalled visiting the family during Thanksgiving in November 2022 and sensing that something about her sister was different. By December, Lindsay told Allison she was going through “a really tough spot” and experiencing suicidal thoughts nearly every day.

Allison said she became concerned enough to ask Lindsay directly whether she was safe. Lindsay assured her that she was and said she did not believe her children were in danger.

After Lindsay received inpatient mental health treatment, Allison noticed what appeared to be some improvement. She attended Cora’s birthday celebration and believed her sister was beginning to feel better, although Lindsay still appeared exhausted.

Paula described Lindsay as a loving mother struggling to cope

Paula also took the stand on Aug. 17 and began by describing her daughter’s childhood and personality.

She told the court that Lindsay had been a good student and had always dreamed of becoming a mother. Paula said motherhood had seemed to be one of the most important and fulfilling parts of her daughter’s life.

But by October 2022, Paula said she began receiving alarming messages from Lindsay.

In one text, Lindsay asked her mother to come stay with her because she felt extremely unwell. She complained of severe insomnia, said she was frightened and explained that she did not want to be alone.

Paula said she frequently stayed with her daughter afterward. In December, she recalled Lindsay telling her that she had thoughts of harming her children.

According to Paula’s testimony, Lindsay also became increasingly paranoid, struggled to sleep and lost weight while dealing with her mental health problems and medications. Even so, Paula said she was not afraid for her grandchildren because she was often present with them and believed Lindsay had begun improving.

Just days before the killings, Paula sent Lindsay a message telling her it was good to see that she was doing better.

She later explained that the message had been intended to encourage her daughter rather than reflect everything Paula had observed. She wanted Lindsay to keep spending time with the children and gradually return to a sense of normalcy.

Lindsay’s parents have continued supporting her

Michael and Paula have remained publicly supportive of their daughter throughout the legal proceedings.

They attended Lindsay’s court appearances following her arrest and hospitalization and eventually relocated from Connecticut to Massachusetts so they could remain close to her during the trial.

 

When Lindsay made her first in-person court appearance in February 2026, both parents were present. Outside the courthouse, Paula said her daughter was a loving mother and would always be one. Michael also expressed his love for Lindsay and said the family would support her in whatever way they could.

Their commitment has also come with a significant financial burden.

A friend established the Musgrove Family Fund to help the couple with expenses associated with remaining near Lindsay and attending court proceedings. According to the source, the fund had raised more than $1 million as of August 2026.

The fundraiser says Paula and Michael have spent years covering travel, housing and living expenses while staying close to their daughter. It describes the financial sacrifices they have made and says the couple’s decision to remain by Lindsay’s side comes down to one thing: they love her.

As Lindsay’s trial has unfolded, testimony from her mother and sister has provided the defense with a window into the months leading up to the tragedy. Their accounts have focused not only on Lindsay’s role as a mother but also on the increasingly serious mental health problems they say they witnessed before the deaths of her three children.

For Michael, Paula and Allison, the case has brought unimaginable loss and difficult questions, but their presence in court has made clear that their relationship with Lindsay has endured despite everything that happened.
