Bryan Kohberger had photos of victim on his phone: source

New details have emerged in the Idaho student murders case, with a source now claiming accused killer Bryan Kohberger allegedly had multiple photos of one of the female victims stored on his cell phone.

The images were reportedly uncovered when investigators seized Kohberger’s phone following his arrest in late December for the brutal November stabbings that claimed the lives of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin.

According to a source connected to the case who spoke with PEOPLE, the photos suggest Kohberger may have been specifically fixated on one of the young women. The source did not reveal which victim appeared in the alleged images but confirmed there was more than one photo of her.

“It was clear that he was paying attention to her,” the source said.

At the time of the murders, Kohberger, 28, was a criminology doctoral student at Washington State University in Pullman, just a 15-minute drive from the off-campus rental home where the four students were killed.

Court documents already indicated Kohberger may have been stalking the neighborhood for months before the attack, based on cellphone data. A probable cause affidavit also included touch DNA matching Kohberger to a knife sheath found at the scene, along with a report from surviving roommate Dylan Mortensen, who reportedly encountered the alleged killer as he fled.

The new photo revelation comes on the heels of reports that Kohberger was fired from his teaching assistant position over accusations of inappropriate behavior with female students. Anonymous sources told The New York Times that he allegedly followed at least one student to her car.

Past acquaintances have described him as a loner with a pattern of making women uncomfortable, including a bar owner in Pennsylvania who recalled Kohberger getting upset when women rejected his advances.

Kohberger remains in custody in Latah County and is scheduled to return to court for a hearing on June 26.
