A Kentucky couple is now behind bars after authorities say their 1-year-old son died in horrifying conditions—choking on a dirty diaper while living in a garage filled with trash and urine.
Deavan Williams, 22, has been charged with murder, while the child’s mother, Alexandrae Price, 22, faces child 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓮 charges, according to local reports from WLEX.
Court documents allege Williams was the only adult watching the toddler on July 27 when the baby reportedly swallowed pieces of a feces-soiled diaper and choked. The child was rushed to a hospital that night, where medical staff noted suspicious injuries including mouth bleeding and bruising.
During questioning, Williams reportedly admitted he knew the baby had eaten dirty diapers before the fatal incident. He claimed he was asleep while supposed to be supervising the child.
An investigation of the home revealed what authorities describe as an appalling living environment. Police citations state the baby was kept in an un-air-conditioned garage cluttered with trash, beer cans, soiled diapers, and heavy cat urine. The infant’s playpen sat directly on the contaminated floor.
According to court documents, the playpen also contained animal urine, animal feces, raw sewage, and even decomposing animals. The parents reportedly admitted to bathing the child with an outdoor hose and said they were surprised the baby didn’t have parasites given the filth around him.
Williams also allegedly fed the toddler extremely spicy foods, despite Price telling him to stop. Court records claim both parents acknowledged the child routinely ate diapers, couch cushions, and other unsafe objects.
Price reportedly told investigators the living area had flies, spiders, high moisture, and poor ventilation—posing serious health hazards.
Both Williams and Price are being held at the Allen County Detention Center and are scheduled to appear in court on August 12.
