Joseph Duggar reportedly kept in close contact with his wife, Kendra Duggar, after being taken into custody, sending her affectionate emails and Bible verses while awaiting the next steps in his legal case.
The former 19 Kids and Counting personality was arrested in Arkansas on March 18 following allegations involving the reported molestation of a 9-year-old girl during a family trip to Florida in 2020.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Duggar sent his first email to Kendra less than a week after his arrest.
In the March 23 message, he expressed his affection for his wife and reassured her that he was thinking about her.
Kendra responded only a few hours later, telling her husband that she had received the message and encouraging him to stay strong.
The couple continued exchanging messages while Duggar remained incarcerated. In another email, Duggar appeared to reflect on a recent phone conversation with Kendra, saying that hearing her voice was something he always enjoyed.
He also included several passages from the Bible that he said were helping him get through his time behind bars.
Kendra, meanwhile, shared music with her husband, sending him the lyrics to Megan Woods’ song “The Truth,” including the line, “I don’t belong to lies, I belong to you.”
Duggar, 31, initially faced charges of lewd and lascivious molestation involving a victim younger than 12, as well as a separate charge alleging lewd and lascivious conduct by an adult.
His legal troubles expanded shortly afterward when Kendra was also arrested. Both were subsequently charged with four counts each of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment. Those charges are separate from the Florida molestation allegations.
Duggar was later released after posting $600,000 bond during a court hearing in Florida. He returned home to Kendra, 27, while awaiting further court proceedings.
His next major court appearance was scheduled for May, where he was expected to be arraigned.
The emails offer a glimpse into how Joseph and Kendra communicated during an intensely difficult period, with both facing serious legal proceedings and uncertainty over what would happen next.
