Long before Joseph and Kendra Duggar’s shocking arrests made national headlines, there were reportedly serious cracks forming behind the scenes within Kendra’s own family. Now, new claims suggest the fallout began weeks earlier—and it’s left her parents scrambling to rebuild their lives.
According to a source speaking with Us Weekly, Kendra had already stopped communicating with her parents, Paul and Christina Caldwell, before she and Joseph were arrested in March. The alleged family rift has only deepened since then, with the Caldwells reportedly leaving the home they had been living in and placing all of their belongings into storage.
The situation has fueled growing speculation that the family’s private conflict began well before Joseph’s criminal case exploded into public view.
For years, many Duggar followers believed the Caldwells were living in a home owned by Joseph and Kendra—reportedly the cabin where the couple first lived after getting married.
But according to reports, that arrangement came to an abrupt end.
An insider claimed that Kendra and Joseph asked the Caldwells to move out, leaving the large family searching for a new place to live while facing mounting financial pressure.
“Kendra is not communicating with her family,” the source alleged. “The Caldwells have left the home they were living in and all of their belongings are in storage. They are still working out what their next steps will be.”
The insider described the situation as “extremely stressful,” especially given everything unfolding around Joseph’s criminal case.
The family’s problems reportedly extend far beyond losing their home.
According to the same source, Paul Caldwell has been looking for work after leaving his previous job, while the family has even discussed moving out of state in hopes of starting over somewhere far away from the controversy.
“Relocating is always difficult, especially with a large family and the stress they are under,” the source claimed.
Perhaps the most surprising allegation is that the Caldwells now reportedly want to distance themselves from the Duggar family altogether.
The insider also claimed that the Caldwells felt unsafe remaining where they were living before moving out.
“They want to feel safe and start over,” the source said, adding that the family hopes to begin counseling as they recover from the ordeal.
The report also alleged that Paul and Christina are heartbroken over losing contact with Kendra.
“It hurts them to be cut off by Kendra,” the source claimed.
Neither Kendra nor Joseph has publicly addressed those allegations.
Despite the reported family conflict, the Caldwells previously released a public statement following Joseph’s arrest that made their priorities clear.
Rather than defending Joseph, they expressed support for the alleged victim.
“We are devastated for the young girl, a child who was courageous in every way to share her truth,” they wrote. “We stand by her, both in support and prayer.”
They added that their primary concern remains the child at the center of the case while continuing to express love for their daughter.
Fueling even more speculation, family friend Amy Paul shared a lengthy Instagram post claiming the Caldwells were forced out of their home after reporting Joseph to authorities.
She further alleged that utilities were shut off while the family was still living there and claimed child welfare authorities were later contacted regarding the household.
Those claims have not been independently confirmed, and neither the Duggar family nor law enforcement has publicly responded to the allegations.
With Joseph awaiting trial and Kendra remaining largely out of the public eye, questions continue to swirl about what really happened behind closed doors—and whether the divide between Kendra and her parents can ever be repaired.
