21 Savage’s ‘Nephew’ Dies By Suicide After Allegedly Shooting Sister

A devastating family tragedy has unfolded around rapper 21 Savage, after his 14-year-old relative, Seven Shirley, reportedly took his own life moments after allegedly shooting his 12-year-old sister, Lyric Shirley, in the neck.

According to police, officers responded to reports of gunfire Wednesday and found two young victims at the scene. Seven was discovered with a gunshot wound and showed no signs of life, while Lyric was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment after being shot in the neck.

Family members say Lyric has undergone multiple surgeries this week, and it remains unclear when doctors will allow her to return home. The family has identified the boy as Seven Shirley and the girl as Lyric Shirley.

Sharon Smith, the grandmother who raised Seven since he was 11 months old, told local outlet 11 Alive that Seven took his own life after shooting his sister. She described what she believes went through his mind: “Just that fast that boy had made the decision to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 himself. He probably sat up there and thought, ‘I’m finna go to jail, they’re going to ridicule me, everybody is going to be doing this and that and this, and this and that,’ and he couldn’t take it.”

Smith said she does not know how Seven obtained a gun, but she hopes the person who sold it to him is held accountable.

21 Savage, identified by 11 Alive as an uncle to Seven, posted a tribute to the young boy after his death. The rapper shared a photo of Seven as a small child with the caption, “Remember when you was a baby.”

The family released a statement calling for community action: “As our family grieves, we are asking our community to stand with us in another way. Please help us get these guns off our streets. Far too many young lives are being taken by senseless gun violence.

We must work together to stop the illegal sale and access of firearms to minors and do everything we can to protect our children.”
