Joseph Duggar’s criminal case is expanding as his estranged in-laws are expected to play a role in the investigation.
According to newly filed court documents, Kendra Duggar’s parents, Paul and Christina Caldwell, are scheduled to give sworn depositions on Sept. 14 at the State Attorney’s Office in Panama City, Florida. Investigators will also question Detective Darrell “Chase” Norris, along with another witness, Thomas Lowe, as part of the discovery process ahead of trial.
The Caldwells were once close to the Duggar family but have reportedly become estranged following Joseph’s arrest. Previous reports claimed Kendra cut off contact with her parents, while the Caldwells left the home they had been living in and publicly expressed support for the alleged victim.
Joseph was arrested in March after a teenage girl accused him of molesting her during a 2020 family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, when she was 9 years old. Investigators allege Joseph later admitted his actions during a conversation with the girl’s father.
The former 19 Kids and Counting star has pleaded not guilty and was released on a $600,000 bond. He remains under court orders prohibiting unsupervised contact with minors, including his four children with Kendra.
The upcoming depositions could become an important part of the evidence presented as prosecutors and defense attorneys prepare for trial.
