Police Found ‘Burn Box’ at D4vd’s Home, Detective Testifies at Murder Hearing

A 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 new detail has emerged in the murder case against rising musician D4vd, as Los Angeles police testified Tuesday that they found a so-called “burn box” hidden behind a piano inside his Hollywood Hills home.

The device, described by LAPD detective Joshua Byers as a “mini crematorium type” tool that can reduce items to nothing, was reportedly purchased on Amazon just days after prosecutors say 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was killed.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, D4vd—whose real name is Burke—also allegedly bought two chainsaws, a body bag, an inflatable pool, and heavy-duty laundry bags in the days following the teenager’s death on April 23, 2025.

The 21-year-old musician faces charges of murder, continuous sexual 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓮 of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. He has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors allege that Celeste, a runaway from Lake Elsinore, California, was fatally stabbed after a heated argument with D4vd over his relationships with other women. Court documents claim she threatened to reveal damaging information about their relationship to ruin his career.

Authorities say he then dismembered her remains and stashed them in two bags inside the front trunk of his Tesla. Her body parts were discovered at a Hollywood tow yard on September 8, 2025, after the car was impounded.

The severed head and torso were found in a cadaver bag, while arms and legs were in a garbage bag. Two of her fingers were reportedly missing.

Prosecutors also claim D4vd and Celeste had been in a sexual relationship that began in November 2023, when she was 13 and he was 18. Text exchanges, they say, referenced 𝒔𝒆𝒙, pregnancy, and emergency contraception.

If convicted, D4vd faces life in prison without parole—or possibly the death penalty, a decision the district attorney’s office has not yet made.
