In a stunning new revelation, convicted child pornographer Josh Duggar has been caught sending graphic, sexually explicit messages to his wife Anna from federal prison, exposing a pattern of depraved behavior that continued even as he awaited sentencing for his crimes.
The messages, obtained by People magazine and detailed in a Law&Crime report, show the 36-year-old former reality star writing to Anna on the eve of his 151-month prison sentence with phrases like “I miss watching you being sexy” and requesting photos of her in “your bra and panties.” The communications occurred in May 2022, the same month a judge handed down the 12½-year term for receiving child pornography.
One message read: “I miss you, my lover. I miss being in the shower with you scrubbing. I miss watching you try on clothes.
I miss watching you being sexy.” Duggar then suggested Anna reward herself for losing weight by buying a low-cut top, adding, “Or you can try on clothes and send me a pic of you in your bra and panties, wink face.” He also urged her to order a two-piece swimsuit for summer, calling her “sexy” and “my precious, lovely bride.”
The most alarming request came days later when Duggar wrote, “PS, send pics ASAP, implied, I think he means, inferred, or otherwise stated, LOL, nice ones with your twos in it.” This appears to be a direct demand for photos of Anna’s chest, known in sexting slang as “twos.” Just a week later, he added, “I can’t wait till we can be alone again.
I miss all of you.”
Legal experts say these messages underscore a startling disregard for the rules of prison communication. Former Florida prosecutor Dave Aronberg noted that inmates are repeatedly warned that all correspondence is monitored, yet many still incriminate themselves. “If we didn’t have stupid criminals, prosecutors would not be as successful,” Aronberg said in an interview.
“These racy messages just underscore that there’s zero expectation of privacy when you are behind bars.”
The revelations come as another Duggar brother faces serious legal trouble. Joseph Duggar, 29, was arrested in March on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving a child under 12. He allegedly molested a 9-year-old girl multiple times during a family vacation in Panama City, Florida, in 2020.
The victim, now 14, came forward after a forensic interview. Joseph also faces additional charges in Arkansas, along with his wife Kendra, for child endangerment and false imprisonment related to locks on the outside of their children’s bedroom doors.
Jailhouse calls between Joseph and Kendra reveal a family in crisis. In one conversation, Joseph described being held in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day, reading the Bible, and told his wife, “God knows where we are.” Kendra responded, “Even if someone’s nice, you know, it’s like I can’t.
I think I’m boarding up the hatches.”
The Duggar family, once celebrated on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting,” has been embroiled in scandal since 2015 when Josh’s name appeared in the Ashley Madison adultery website leak. He later admitted to molesting four of his sisters and a babysitter as a teenager. In 2021, he was convicted on two counts of receiving and possessing child pornography, leading to his current prison term.
Now, the newly released messages show that even behind bars, Josh Duggar remains fixated on sexual gratification. In one email, he wrote to Anna, “I have some great ideas what we could be doing,” suggesting foot rubs, back rubs, or “something relaxing.” He added, “Then we could really have some fun once we were nice and relaxed.
So many memories flooding my mind right now.”
Prosecutors in both Florida and Arkansas are expected to use these communications as evidence of Duggar’s persistent deviance. Meanwhile, Joseph’s trial in Florida is pending, with a separate Arkansas hearing scheduled for August. The family’s patriarch, Jim Bob Duggar, could be called to testify after Joseph allegedly confessed to him about the Florida assault.
For the victim in Joseph’s case, the public scrutiny adds another layer of trauma. “My thoughts are with her and her family,” said host Sierra Gillespie on Law&Crime’s “Scandal” program. The Duggar saga, once a wholesome reality show, has spiraled into a dark chronicle of alleged sex crimes, failed interventions, and now, explicit jailhouse fantasies that expose a fractured family’s darkest secrets.
