Lewis Hamilton has made a triumphant return to the winner’s circle, clinching his first victory with Ferrari at the Barcelona Grand Prix. This marks a significant milestone for the seven-time champion, who has faced challenges since his high-profile switch from Mercedes to the Italian team.
Hamilton’s win comes after a tough start to his Ferrari career, which saw him grappling with performance issues and a crisis of confidence during his debut season in 2025. Now, after a determined effort to rebuild his relationship with the team, Hamilton has proven that hard work pays off, showcasing his undeniable talent and charisma.
“I wish I had the right words,” Hamilton expressed, reflecting on the emotional weight of his victory. “How do you find the right words to express an emotion that’s your new wildest dreams? I truly believed in my decision, and joining Ferrari, I truly believed what this team could achieve, what we could achieve together.”

This victory comes on the heels of two strong finishes in Canada and Monaco, positioning Hamilton as a serious contender for an elusive eighth World Championship title. However, he remains cautious about his chances, acknowledging the fierce competition from Mercedes and their impressive performance this season.

“Honestly, with the way that the year started out, I have not really been thinking about it like that,” he shared. “Of course, what we had worked towards has been being able to win, but I’ve always been conscious of the fact that it takes time.”

After three challenging years with Mercedes and a rocky first season at Ferrari, many had written Hamilton off. But at 41, he is back in the mix, now trailing his teammate Kimi Antonelli in the championship standings, with plenty of races left to change the narrative.

The Barcelona Grand Prix was a testament to Ferrari’s strategic prowess. Hamilton started the race in second place, maintaining his position while expertly managing his tires. An early pit stop allowed him to gain an advantage over his competitors, and a timely virtual safety car further solidified his lead.
While Hamilton’s former teammate Fernando Alonso faced misfortune, leading to his retirement, Hamilton seized the opportunity to secure his victory. George Russell finished in second place, with Lando Norris rounding out the podium, marking the first time since 1968 that three British drivers shared the podium.
Hamilton’s fellow competitors expressed their admiration for his resilience. Russell noted, “It was a big, bold move to join Ferrari, and to see it now paying off for him is very special.” Norris added, “You could see how much it meant to him.”
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur praised Hamilton’s work ethic and commitment, attributing his comeback to his relentless dedication. “It’s more Lewis himself, I think. He was able to come back after tough, tough moments,” Vasseur said, highlighting the motivation Hamilton brings to the team.
As the season unfolds, Hamilton’s victory in Barcelona has reignited hopes for his eighth championship. With numerous races ahead, fans are left wondering: can Hamilton maintain this momentum and reclaim his place at the top of Formula 1?
