Clint Black Hospitalized With Infected Tonsils, Forced to Cancel Concert Due to Medical Emergency

Country music legend Clint Black has been forced to hit pause on his tour after an unexpected medical emergency landed him in the hospital.

The 64-year-old singer announced that he is canceling his scheduled July 3 performance at the Pearl River Resort Casino in Choctaw, Mississippi, after being admitted to the hospital with a serious case of infected tonsils that required emergency treatment.

According to a statement shared by Black and his management team, the country star was hospitalized on Sunday after his condition worsened.

Doctors determined that his infected tonsils required emergency intravenous antibiotic treatment, forcing him to cancel one stop on his Back on the Blacktop Tour while he focuses on recovering.

Fortunately, there is encouraging news for fans.

The statement confirmed that Black is “on the mend” and is expected to make a full recovery. He is also anticipated to be discharged from the hospital later this week, allowing him time to rest before returning to the road.

“Clint and his management team sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this cancellation may cause,” the statement read, adding that all ticket holders will receive full refunds through their original point of purchase.

As of now, Black’s next scheduled performance remains July 9 in Minden, Nevada, and no additional tour dates have been canceled. His tour is currently expected to continue through November, though fans are hoping he takes whatever time he needs to recover completely before returning to the stage.

The health scare comes during an especially busy year for the Grammy-winning singer.

In May, Black released his memoir, Killin’ Time: My Life and Music, in which he reflected on both the triumphs and hardships that shaped his life. The book details deeply personal moments, including family tragedies, career setbacks, and numerous health challenges he has faced over the years.

Speaking with People earlier this year, Black described his journey as one built on perseverance.

“I was just a scrappy little kid… pushing through hurdle after hurdle, injury after injury, surgery after surgery,” he said, explaining that despite his success, his life has been “not all champagne and roses.”

Fans quickly flooded Black’s social media with messages of encouragement after the announcement.

Many wished him a speedy recovery, while fellow artists and friends also shared their support, hoping to see the country icon back on stage once he’s fully healthy.

For now, Black’s focus is simple: getting well.

And if all goes according to plan, the country legend will soon be back doing what he loves most—performing for the fans who have supported him for nearly four decades.
