Josh Duggar’s recent prison transfer is sparking controversy after his attorney accused federal officials of moving the former reality star as punishment for raising concerns about prison conditions.
According to Josh’s lawyer, Beau Brindley, the transfer from FCI Seagoville in Texas to the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth was not related to Josh’s health — despite the facility being designed to house inmates with medical and mental health needs.
Brindley claims the move was a form of retaliation after he and Josh raised concerns about alleged problems with the handling of legal mail at Seagoville during a recent court hearing.
The attorney says Bureau of Prisons officials described the transfer as a “routine transfer” but provided no explanation, calling the process stressful and unnecessary.
Brindley also told TMZ that he spoke with Josh by phone and that Josh insisted he was not suffering from any illness despite being relocated to a medical facility.
Josh Duggar, the former star of “19 Kids and Counting,” is currently serving a 12.5-year federal prison sentence after being convicted in 2021 of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material.
His legal team has continued challenging aspects of his case and prison conditions, while federal officials have not publicly responded to the attorney’s claims.
The Bureau of Prisons has not commented on the reason behind Josh’s transfer.
