Brenton Strange is set to make Jacksonville his home for the foreseeable future! The Jaguars have reportedly secured the tight end with a lucrative three-year extension worth $48 million, which includes up to $25 million guaranteed. This deal ensures that Strange, now 25, will remain with the team until at least 2029.
Strange’s new contract places him among the top tight ends in the league, ranking fifth in average annual value at $16 million and eighth in total contract value. This is a significant milestone for the player, who was drafted 61st overall by the Jaguars in 2023 after a standout career at Penn State, where he scored 11 touchdowns over four seasons.
Initially, Strange found himself overshadowed by veteran Evan Engram during his rookie year, managing only five receptions for 35 yards in 14 games. However, the tides turned in 2024 when Engram missed significant time due to injuries, allowing Strange to step up. He played in all 17 games that season, amassing 40 catches for 411 yards and two touchdowns, even as the Jaguars faced a challenging 4-13 season.
The following year, Strange truly emerged as a key player, setting personal bests with 46 receptions, 540 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. His impressive performance contributed to a remarkable turnaround for the Jaguars, who increased their win total by nine games, finishing the season at 13-4 and clinching the AFC South title.
Strange’s presence on the field was crucial last season; when he played in 12 games, the Jaguars boasted an impressive 11-1 record, averaging over 30 points per game. In contrast, the team struggled without him, going 2-3 and scoring just 22.6 points per game during his absence.

As the Jaguars prepare for the upcoming 2026 season, Strange is expected to play a vital role in the offense under new coordinator Liam Coen, even with the recent addition of tight end Nate Boerkircher in the draft. The excitement builds as Jacksonville gears up to kick off their season at home against the Cleveland Browns on September 13.
What will this new chapter hold for Brenton Strange and the Jaguars as they aim for even greater heights?
