Maughan explained that Mystikal’s decision to take a plea deal, known as a “best interest plea,” was a strategic move to reduce his potential sentence. Despite pleading guilty, Mystikal reportedly maintains that the encounter was consensual. However, Maughan noted that the 𝒹𝓇𝓊𝑔 charges against him were more challenging to contest, as they were discovered during a police search related to the sexual assault allegations.
Having already served over three years in county jail, Mystikal’s sentence is effectively reduced, leaving him with approximately 17 years to serve. His attorney mentioned that the rapper is accepting his punishment and coping as best as he can.
