What began as a late-night gathering in a seaside park ended in tragedy when an 18-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by a construction vehicle that police say was taken over by teenagers.

Authorities in Essex, England, announced that Tallulah Bradford, 18, died nearly a week after suffering catastrophic injuries in an incident at Chalkwell Park in the early hours of June 13. According to investigators, two teenagers allegedly gained unauthorized access to a small articulated loading vehicle and drove it through the park before the horrifying crash occurred.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after 12:30 a.m. and found Bradford critically injured. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors fought to save her life for days. On June 19, police confirmed she had succumbed to her injuries, leaving her family and community devastated.
Police have since arrested an 18-year-old man from Westcliff and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Both suspects have been released on bail while detectives continue their investigation. Authorities are now examining exactly how the construction vehicle was accessed and why it was being operated in a public park after midnight.
Investigators believe there were numerous young people gathered in the area when the incident unfolded and are urging anyone who witnessed what happened or captured footage on their phones to come forward. Detectives say witness testimony could be crucial in piecing together the moments leading up to the fatal collision.
The tragedy has sparked outrage online, with many questioning how heavy equipment could allegedly be taken and operated so easily. Others have called for increased security around construction vehicles and public spaces frequented by teenagers.
For Bradford’s loved ones, however, the focus remains on mourning a young life cut short. Police say specially trained officers are supporting her family as the investigation moves forward and prosecutors determine whether more serious charges could follow.
