The influencer accused of plotting to kill boy band singer Jack Avery — her ex-boyfriend and the father of her daughter — allegedly wanted his finger as proof of his death.

Gabriela “Gabbie” Gonzalez, 24, and her father, Francisco Javier Gonzalez, 59, are charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation of murder, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

The charges stem from what police said was a bitter custody dispute between Gabbie and Avery, who was once a member of the boy band Why Don’t We, over their 7-year-old daughter, Lavender.

“Between 2020 and 2021, she is accused of seeking the assistance of her then-boyfriend [Kai] Cordrey to hire someone on the dark web to kill Avery,” the D.A.’s office said. “In April 2021, Gonzalez’s father, Francisco Gonzalez, allegedly sent $10,000 to Cordrey as front money to use in locating, hiring and paying someone to kill Avery.”

Cordrey faces the same charges as Gabbie and Francisco.

In a statement to PEOPLE, the Los Angeles D.A.’s Office says Cordrey had asked any prospective killer to prove that Avery died, a detail first reported by TMZ.

“Kai Cordrey asked the hitman to send him Jack’s finger with his jewelry still on it as proof of death,” the D.A.’s office tells PEOPLE.

Gabbie appeared in court on May 19, Rolling Stone reported, but has not yet entered a plea.

Prosecutors said Cordrey was arrested in Florida and is awaiting extradition to California.

In a 2025 interview on the Zac Sang Show podcast, Avery said FBI agents had warned him that someone was allegedly attempting to kill him.

Avery posted a statement on Instagram following the announcement of the charges, thanking authorities and saying he was “thankful to have sole custody” of his daughter.

Gabbie has more than 400,000 followers on Instagram.
