Queen Camilla shocked royal fans during the royal couple’s lavish US state visit after making one unexpected fashion decision that reportedly left even Donald Trump disappointed. The surprising move has now sparked debate over whether the monarchy is quietly abandoning some of its most iconic traditions.

'Reason' Donald Trump would have been 'disappointed' over Queen Camilla's tiara decision during US state visit

King Charles and Queen Camilla traveled to the United States this week for a four-day state visit, where they were welcomed in Washington, D.C. by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

One of the most high-profile moments of the visit came during a glamorous state dinner hosted at the White House. However, despite the grandeur of the occasion, royal watchers quickly noticed something missing from Queen Camilla’s appearance — a royal tiara.

The decision immediately triggered widespread speculation, especially because royal women traditionally wear tiaras during major state banquets and formal diplomatic events.

According to former royal butler Grant Harrold, Camilla’s choice was likely intentional and reflected a more modern approach to royal protocol.

“I think this is just Queen Camilla’s modern take on things,” Harrold explained while speaking on behalf of Slots Temple.

“Tiaras aren’t really a thing in the United States. They’re seen as something from a bygone era, so I imagine Camilla wanted her look to reflect the tone of the event.”

Harrold pointed out that Camilla did wear a tiara when Donald Trump and Melania Trump visited the United Kingdom previously, but this situation was very different.

“She wore a tiara when the Trumps visited the UK because that was on British soil, where British traditions are followed,” he said. “This time, Charles and Camilla were the guests.”

He also noted that if Camilla had chosen to wear a tiara at the White House dinner, she would likely have been the only woman in the room wearing one.

During royal state banquets in Britain, however, other senior royal women — including Princess Kate, Princess Anne, and Duchess Sophie — are also typically seen wearing tiaras.

The former royal aide described the move as a noticeable shift away from the traditions upheld by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

“Queen Elizabeth always wore tiaras for state banquets and formal occasions,” Harrold explained. “She loved wearing them and never really questioned whether she should.”

He added that Camilla’s royal status is also different from that of her late mother-in-law.

“Although they both hold the title of Queen, Elizabeth was the monarch herself, while Camilla is married to the monarch. There is a significant difference in status.”

Despite the practical explanation, Harrold believes Donald Trump may still have been disappointed by the absence of royal sparkle.

“I think Trump probably likes all the glitz and glamour associated with the royal family,” he claimed.

According to Harrold, Camilla’s office and the White House would have coordinated details of the event in advance, meaning Trump likely already knew she would not be wearing a tiara.

Still, the royal commentator suggested the president may have jokingly brought it up during the evening.

“Him being the way he is, I imagine he might have asked her where it was,” Harrold said. “Camilla is very good in situations like that, so she probably just laughed it off with a joke.”

The unexpected fashion choice has now sparked intense discussion among royal fans online, with many wondering whether the modern monarchy under King Charles is gradually stepping away from the grand traditions once associated with Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
