More than 25 years after the death of Tupac Shakur, new stories about the legendary rapper continue surfacing — this time from comedian Chris Rock.
During a recent appearance on the Fly on the Wall podcast hosted by Dana Carvey and David Spade, Rock opened up about his unusual relationship with Tupac, revealing that the late rapper allegedly “didn’t like” him because they were often romantically involved with the same women.
“It’s always the same sht,” Rock joked during the interview. “[We were] fcking the same girls. He always won that battle.”
According to Rock, the tension between the two was less about serious personal conflict and more about overlapping relationships and competition for attention from women in entertainment circles at the time. He described their dynamic as “weird,” though he appeared to discuss the situation humorously rather than with lingering hostility.
The conversation also reignited public fascination with Tupac’s life and legacy, which continues to dominate hip hop discussions decades after his death. Tupac was fatally shot in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, shortly after attending a boxing match featuring Mike Tyson alongside Suge Knight.
After being struck multiple times in a drive-by shooting, Tupac died from his injuries six days later at the age of 25. His murder became one of the most infamous unsolved cases in music history and fueled years of speculation surrounding the East Coast-West Coast rap feud involving The Notorious B.I.G..
In 2023, authorities arrested Duane Davis, also known as “Keefe D,” in connection with Tupac’s murder, dramatically reviving public attention surrounding the decades-old case.
