Lewis Hamilton just admitted something that has fans buzzing. The seven-time world champion confessed that his angry outbursts at Ferrari during the Dutch Grand Prix were not his finest moment, and he is promising to do better.
The 41-year-old racing icon found himself in a tense spot after a frustrating weekend at Zandvoort. He finished seventh in the Sprint and fourth in the main race, which pushed him even further behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli. The gap now sits at 59 points.
During Sunday’s race, Hamilton let his frustration boil over on team radio and in post-race interviews. He believed a bad strategy call cost him a shot at the podium, and he did not hold back.
“I’m here to win and I really believe that this team can win,” he said after the race. “Today was definitely frustrating for me.”
He pointed to lost time behind teammate Charles Leclerc as a key factor. “I lost several seconds behind Charles which I think ultimately would have made the difference at the end.”
But just 24 hours later, Hamilton did something rare. He took to social media with a heartfelt apology, admitting his words got the best of him.
“I’ve listened back to some of my radio and TV comments,” he wrote. “In the heat of the moment frustration can come out, especially when you care as deeply as I do. But that wasn’t the best version of me.
I take responsibility for that, and I’ll be better.”
He made it clear that his passion comes from believing in the team. “The direction is clear. The belief is there.
And the fight is absolutely still on.”
