The internet personality known for her glamorous lifestyle appeared in a Miami courtroom looking unrecognizable, and now her future behind bars has been decided. Courtney Clenney, the OnlyFans star with millions of followers, has accepted a plea deal that could see her walking free much sooner than many expected.
Clenney, 30, pleaded guilty to manslaughter with a deadly weapon on Monday in connection with the April 2022 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli. The judge handed down a six-year prison sentence, but with the time she has already served since her August 2022 arrest, sources say she could be released in as little as two years.
Had the case gone to trial, prosecutors say she could have faced up to 30 years behind bars. Instead, the plea agreement was accepted by the court, with Miami-Dade prosecutor Shawn Abuhoff confirming the state’s willingness to settle the case.
Court documents describe the couple’s relationship as extremely volatile, with multiple domestic violence incidents reported on both sides. Clenney’s legal team has maintained that she was a battered partner, while Obumseli’s family insists he was the one who suffered 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓮.
The emotional weight of the hearing hit hardest when Obumseli’s mother, Ocio Obumseli, delivered her victim impact statement. She told the court that she learned of her son’s death through a call asking if she wanted to donate his eyes, calling that moment the darkest day of her life.
She spoke of sleepless nights, endless tears, and a joy that has never fully returned to her family. Her voice held steady until she returned to her seat, where she broke down in tears beside her son’s brother.
Clenney, who once boasted over two million social media followers under the name Courtney Tailor, will also serve five years of probation following her release. If she violates those terms, she could face an additional 30 years in prison.
The judge offered condolences to the Obumseli family, acknowledging the profound loss they continue to carry. The family’s attorney, Larry Handfield, said the guilty plea brought a sense of closure, even if nothing can undo the tragedy.
Not everyone left the courtroom satisfied. Clenney’s father, Kim Clenney, told reporters that his daughter did nothing wrong and that even one day in jail was too many. Her legal team pointed out that the plea came in 15 years below the minimum sentencing guidelines, suggesting the state’s case was far from ironclad.
When asked why the Clenney family never reached out to the Obumselis with condolences, her lawyer explained that such contact would not have been appropriate while a criminal case was pending.
As Clenney begins counting down her days behind bars, her attorney offered a simple message: every day she wakes up is one step closer to coming home.
What do you think of this plea deal, and does it feel like justice was served for Christian Obumseli?
