United Cajun Navy said they've never spoken to Nolan Wells' family attorney Ben Crump — despite his claims they have

A bombshell twist has erupted in the tragic case of Mississippi college football player Nolan Wells, with the volunteer group that helped find his body now firing back at his family’s high-profile attorney. The United Cajun Navy is publicly denying they ever spoke to Ben Crump—despite the lawyer claiming they told him explosive details about how the teen was found.

In an emotional press conference earlier this week, Crump said the disaster relief group had been “forthcoming” with information that 18-year-old Wells was discovered “face down, fully clothed” on Horn Island. He argued the condition of Wells’ clothing could be key to solving what happened after a Fourth of July boat trip.

But the United Cajun Navy isn’t staying quiet about the contradiction. In a pointed social media post, the organization called Crump’s statement a “lie,” insisting they never had a conversation with the prominent attorney.

“We have never spoken with Crump, and we certainly didn’t tell the parents anything like that,” the group wrote.

The confusion appears to stem from a recent television appearance. Earlier this week, the Cajun Navy’s founder, Todd Terrell, mistakenly answered “yes” when asked on the Nancy Grace Show if Wells had been found “fully clothed.” He quickly corrected himself, clarifying that Wells was actually only wearing swim trunks when discovered.

Now, the group is doubling down. In the same online statement, they wrote: “The bottom line is that Nolan was only wearing swim trunks when found. That’s a fact that can’t be refuted.”

They accused Crump of manufacturing a distraction from a “press conference blunder.”

Crump, known for representing high-profile families in tragedies, did not respond to requests for comment by the time of publication. The dispute raises more questions than answers as the family continues searching for the truth behind Nolan Wells’ mysterious death. Could this mix-up derail the investigation—or reveal even more?
