A new demand letter has added another twist to the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, by claiming to reveal the identities of the people allegedly responsible for her kidnapping.
According to reports, the letter was emailed to TMZ and claimed the sender possesses a hidden cellphone containing evidence tied to Nancy’s disappearance. The message alleged the device includes a video showing the person described as the “main guy” with Nancy on what the sender claimed was “probably her last day,” along with photos, names, addresses, and ages of two individuals allegedly involved in the kidnapping.
The letter also stated that more than one person participated in the crime and referenced an earlier Bitcoin wallet that had appeared in previous ransom communications before providing a new cryptocurrency address. TMZ reported that the email originated from the same address used to send earlier ransom notes and immediately turned the information over to the FBI.
The latest message surfaced just days after details emerged about previous ransom notes allegedly connected to the case. One earlier note reportedly demanded millions of dollars in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return. Another message later claimed she had died shortly after being abducted, expressing regret but reportedly making no request for money in exchange for the return of her body.
Despite the new claims, authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the latest letter or any information it contains. Both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate the case, and no official suspects have been identified or arrested.
Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1, and nearly five months later her whereabouts remain unknown. Investigators have continued analyzing DNA evidence, digital data, and tips from the public while pursuing every possible lead.
Law enforcement officials have emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing, urging anyone with credible information about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance to contact authorities immediately.
