Kendra Duggar’s Parents Expected to Testify Against Joseph Duggar at Sexual Assault Trial

Joseph Duggar is set to face testimony from his own in-laws as his Florida sexual assault case moves toward trial.

According to newly filed court documents, five prosecution witnesses are expected to testify, including Kendra Duggar’s parents, Christina and Gene “Paul” Caldwell. They are scheduled to be questioned under oath during depositions on Sept. 14 in Panama City, Florida, along with Bay County Sheriff’s investigator Darrell “Chase” Norris and Tontitown Police Detective Thomas Lowe.

The fifth witness is the girl accusing Joseph of sexually assaulting her.

Joseph, who pleaded not guilty after his March arrest, is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct involving a child. If convicted on both counts, he could face a life sentence.

According to court records, the accuser—now 14 years old—told investigators she was 9 when the alleged abuse occurred during a 2020 family vacation in Panama City Beach. She claimed Joseph repeatedly invited her to sit on his lap before allegedly escalating the inappropriate contact under a blanket while they sat together on a couch. She told investigators the incidents happened multiple times and left her feeling frightened and confused.

Authorities say the investigation began after the girl’s father confronted Joseph in March 2026, at which point Joseph allegedly admitted to the conduct. Those allegations ultimately led to his arrest.

Joseph remains free on a $600,000 bond but is prohibited from having any contact with the alleged victim or any unsupervised contact with minors—including his own four children. A judge has twice rejected his requests to ease those restrictions.

The Florida case is not the only legal challenge facing the former Counting On star. Following a search of the Duggars’ Arkansas home, Joseph and his wife, Kendra, were also charged in a separate Arkansas case with multiple counts of child endangerment and false imprisonment. Both have pleaded not guilty to those charges and are scheduled to appear in court later this year.
