Jim Bob Duggar’s sister, Deanna Duggar, says she believes every member of the Duggar family should be investigated following years of legal scandals involving multiple relatives.
Appearing on The Sarah Fraser Show alongside her daughter, Amy Duggar, Deanna reacted to the recent criminal case against Joseph Duggar, who has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl. She said the repeated controversies within the family raise serious concerns.
“In my opinion, I do believe that they should be investigated,” Deanna said. “Everybody should be checked out in that family.”
Amy agreed, suggesting the family’s problems “stem from somewhere” and arguing that many relatives may have suppressed years of emotional trauma. Both women said they believe therapy would benefit many members of the Duggar family, particularly those raised under the strict teachings of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP).
While Deanna said she believes nearly everyone should be examined more closely, she noted that Jill Duggar appears to have done significant work to heal through therapy and by creating distance from the family’s environment.
Deanna also revealed that Jim Bob attempted to reconcile with her when they met at a relative’s funeral last year, but she declined to have the conversation at that time, saying it was “not the time or place.” She indicated that any future relationship would require firm personal boundaries.
The latest comments come as the Duggar family continues to face renewed public scrutiny. Josh Duggar remains in federal prison following his conviction on child sexual abuse material charges, while Joseph Duggar is awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to the child molestation allegations against him.
Although Deanna and Amy believe the family deserves greater scrutiny, their remarks reflect personal opinions and are not allegations supported by any new legal findings regarding Jim Bob, Michelle, or other family members beyond the publicly reported cases.
