The former Red Bull driver revealed he once unleashed an X-rated rant over team radio—only to discover the company’s billionaire owner was listening live from the garage.
The hilarious confession came during a recent episode of Coulthard’s new podcast, where he rewound the clock to the 2007 German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. Back then, Red Bull Racing was still building its foundation, and Coulthard was stuck behind the sister team, Toro Rosso, after a pit stop.
Feeling the frustration build, Coulthard jumped on the radio. He had fresh tires; the Toro Rosso ahead was on old rubber. He asked for a message to be passed to let him through, but nothing happened.
Time kept ticking, and his patience snapped.
“I get back on the radio and say, ‘Guys, I’m just losing time,’” Coulthard recalled. When the other car still didn’t move, he let loose with an X-rated blast: “You’re w, you’re all w!” Yes, he went there.
But here’s the twist: Red Bull’s legendary founder, Dietrich Mateschitz, was tuned into that very channel from the pits. Coulthard had no idea the man who signed his paychecks was hearing every colorful word.
