Police Found ‘Burn Box’ at D4vd’s Home, Detective Testifies at Murder Hearing

A 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 new detail has emerged in the murder case against musician D4vd, as a Los Angeles police detective took the stand Tuesday and revealed what investigators found hidden inside the singer’s Hollywood Hills home.

According to court testimony from LAPD robbery-homicide detective Joshua Byers, officers discovered a so-called “burn box” behind a piano while serving a search warrant at D4vd’s residence on September 17, 2025. Byers described the device as something capable of acting like a “mini crematorium,” used to reduce items to ash.

The preliminary hearing brief, obtained by PEOPLE, alleges the incinerator-style box was purchased on Amazon just days after prosecutors say D4vd killed 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez on April 23, 2025. The same court documents claim the 21-year-old artist also bought two chainsaws, a body bag, an inflatable pool, and heavy-duty laundry bags around that time.

D4vd—whose real name is David Burke—faces charges of murder, continuous sexual 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓮 of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Prosecutors allege the teen from Lake Elsinore, California, was fatally stabbed on April 23, just one day after an intense argument over the musician’s relationships with other women. According to the preliminary hearing brief, the victim “became extremely upset and threatened to disclose damaging information about her relationship with defendant to end his career and destroy his life.”

Authorities claim D4vd then dismembered Rivas’s remains and concealed them in two bags inside the front trunk of his Tesla. The dismembered body parts were discovered at a Hollywood tow yard on September 8, 2025, three days after the vehicle was impounded. Her decomposed head and torso were reportedly found in a cadaver bag, while her arms and legs were in a garbage bag.

Her left ring and pinky fingers were missing.

Court documents also allege the relationship between D4vd and Rivas began in January 2022 when she was just 11 years old, with sexual contact starting in November 2023 when she was 13 and he was 18. Texts between them reportedly referenced 𝒔𝒆𝒙, pregnancy, abortion, and Plan B, and included explicit photographs. The pair broke up in November 2024 but allegedly continued communicating and engaging in sexual acts.

If convicted, Burke could face life in prison without parole or even the death penalty—though the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has not yet decided on seeking capital punishment.
