Josh Duggar has been transferred to another federal correctional facility as he continues serving his sentence for child sexual abuse material offenses, marking the latest move in a series of prison transfers over the past several months.
Federal prison records show that the former 19 Kids and Counting personality is now being housed at a federal prison in Ohio after previously spending time at facilities in Texas and Oklahoma. The relocation is part of several transfers that have taken place while he remains in federal custody.
Duggar initially served the first four years of his sentence at FCI Seagoville, a low-security federal correctional institution located near Dallas, Texas. He remained there from the beginning of his incarceration until May 2026.
In May, prison officials transferred him to the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Federal authorities have not publicly explained the reason for that move, and the Bureau of Prisons has not released additional details regarding his stay at the medical facility.
After spending roughly one month in Fort Worth, Duggar was relocated again on July 1 to the Federal Transfer Center (FTC) in Oklahoma City. The facility serves as a temporary processing hub where inmates are held while awaiting transportation to their next permanent institution.
Unlike traditional prisons, the Oklahoma City transfer center is designed primarily for short-term stays. Many inmates remain there only briefly before being reassigned elsewhere within the federal prison system.
Following that stop, Duggar was transferred once more, this time to a federal correctional institution in Ohio, where he is expected to continue serving the remainder of his sentence unless future transfers occur.
Duggar was arrested in 2021 following a federal investigation into child sexual abuse material found on a computer at his business.
Later that year, a federal jury found him guilty of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. Prosecutors argued during the trial that he had downloaded and viewed illegal files involving the sexual abuse of children.
In May 2022, a federal judge sentenced Duggar to more than 12 years in prison, followed by a lengthy period of supervised release after his eventual release from custody.
He has continued pursuing legal challenges to his conviction, although previous appeals seeking to overturn the verdict have been unsuccessful.
Before his criminal conviction, Duggar rose to national prominence through TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, a reality television series that documented the daily lives of the Duggar family and their conservative Christian lifestyle.
The show attracted a large audience during its run, but Duggar’s legal troubles ultimately ended his television career and brought renewed scrutiny to the family’s history.
Duggar is now incarcerated at a federal prison in Ohio after transfers through Texas and Oklahoma over the past several months.
According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records, his projected release date remains in 2033, although that date could change depending on future administrative decisions or earned sentence credits.
