THIS is the shocking moment bungling airport workers crash a baggage conveyor belt into a plane’s engine, leaving the driver injured.
Dramatic footage shows the aftermath of the crash with one side of the aircraft caved in due to the force of the collision.
A section of the plane can be seen hanging off as torch light reveals the full extent of the damage.
The incident took place only moments after passengers safely disembarked Air Peace flight P47427.
The Airbus A320, which departed from Kano, Nigeria landed safely at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday night.
The staff member operating the vehicle reportedly slumped to the ground after ramming into the aircraft.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, administering first aid to the victim.
The damaged plane was due to operate several more flights in the coming days, but has now been decommissioned for repairs.
Air Peace confirmed the collision caused significant damage, disrupting the schedule.
A spokesperson said: “We sincerely apologise to our esteemed passengers whose travel plans may be affected by this unforeseen ground handling incident.”
They added that customer service teams were providing alternative options and assistance where possible.
An investigation is now ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
Operations are expected to return to normal once a replacement aircraft is found.
This comes after a baggage handler was left in critical condition when her scarf got caught in a conveyor belt at Heathrow.
The woman was violently dragged along by the machinery after all passengers had disembarked the plane.
Colleagues inside Loganair Flight 82WR from Dundee and on the other side of the plane were reportedly oblivious to what was happening.
“It was the stuff of nightmares,” a source said.
“No one was on hand to help out. It’s a miracle she wasn’t killed.”
The experienced team leader for Menzies was later treated by paramedics and taken to hospital.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.49pm on Wednesday 14 February to reports of an incident on Terminal 2 Heathrow Airport, Hounslow.
“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and members of our hazardous area response team.
“Our first medics arrived on scene in four minutes. We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
