WASHINGTON (TNND) — Just after Bryan Kohberger’s first night in prison — where he’ll spend his remaining years — the convicted killer is already making requests for a prison transfer.
Kohberger was transferred to the J-Block within the Idaho Maximum Security Institution located in Boise on July 29, residing in a single cell. On July 30, he made a request to be transferred out of the cell block, saying he was a victim of sexual harassment, according to several notes obtained by People.
“Not engaging in any of the recent flooding/striking as well as being subject to minute-by-minute verbal threats/harassment and on that and other bases [sic] Unit 2 of J-Block is an environment that I wish to transfer from,” Kohberger wrote in his.
Flooding is a common disruption that prisoners will engage in which consists of them causing water to overflow in their cells. Kohberger was seeking to be transferred to the B-Block, which is the same set up as the J-Block.
In response to Kohberger’s prison transfer request,a prison officer said that J-Block is “generally a fairly calm and quieter tier.”
Then on August 4, Kohberger handed a prison guard a note citing several incidences of sexual harassment. Kohberger said that one inmate allegedly said to him that he would “b— f—” him. Kohberger said another inmate had said: “The only a– we’ll be eating is Kohberger’s.”
The guard had submitted an information report writing that he “recalls vulgar language being used and directed towards Kohberger,” but could not determine which inmates said what.
However, in Kohberger’s most recent sexual harassment complaint, it’s revealed that he “feels safe to remain on tier 2 in J-Block.”
Kohberger pleaded guilty last month to the murders of Idaho college students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in November 2022. As part of his plea deal, he was sentenced to four life terms in prison with no possibility to appeal.
